Puppy Parasite Guide: What Every Puppy Parent Should Know

Parasites are a normal part of early puppyhood and are rarely a reflection of poor care. Most puppies experience at least one type. With awareness, testing, and treatment, your puppy can recover fully. Patience and follow-through with your vet are key. Stay calm, ask questions, and lean into your breeder and vet for support.
Puppy Hernias, Hooded Vulvas & Undescended Testicles

A hernia is when tissue pushes through an opening in the muscle wall where it shouldn’t. A Hooded Vulva is an extra skin fold partially covering the vulva. An Undescended Testicle is a failure of one or both testicles to descend by 16 weeks (cryptorchidism).
Luxating Patellas, Bite Alignment, Heart Murmurs

A luxating patella happens when the kneecap slips out of its normal groove, often in small
breeds, but it is possible in any dog. Bite alignment is the way your puppy’s upper and lower jaws line up. Bite issues are often breed-specific. A heart murmur is an extra or unusual sound heard during a heartbeat, often described as a ‘whooshing’ noise.
